Artist of the Day: Popof
From the Turbo Recordings site:
"Popof is a French DJ/composer/arranger hailing from the Rave Party scene.
A previous member of the underground collective 'Heretik', he has participated to numerous events throughout France, Europe, the Middle-East, Asia, and so forth.
Today, he stresses his preference towards minimal techno and electro. His EP, ´Alcoolic', released on the label AFU LTp in 2007 was a huge success.
He has produced high-profile remixes such as ´Bells of Brighton' on CR2 records, 'Emotional Distortion' on Audio Therapy, and the Beatport #1 hit remix of Tiga & Zyntherius 'Sunglasses At Night'.
Popof is also featured on various labels such as Turbo, Skryptom, Afu Ltd, Notorious Elektro, and Boxer Recordings, and is playlisted by many reknowned artists: Ricardo Villalobos, John Digweed, Sasha, Luciano, & Tiesto."
On Turbo Recordings, he is one of many notable artists, including Tiga, Chromeo, Proxy, Boys Noize, D.I.M., Duke Dumont and Brodinski. Anytime we drop any of his tracks live, people go apeshit. Here's some samplers:
