Figgy

Friends of the wonk, meet Figgy. This gentleman has been keeping the scene alive on the east side and his tracks have gotten heavy airplay on glitch.fm radio, so this post is long overdue.

But we'll leave it up to our neighbor to introduce himself best:
"Figgy aka Mike Ferrigno is a New England based producer/DJ who’s glitched out bass heavy music holds no prejudice toward tempos. Armed with a laptop and midi controllers Figgy’s live sets are filled with custom edits, remixes, mashups and originals. Not one to stand around, when he’s not pushing buttons or tweaking knobs you can be sure to find him jumping around like a maniac hopelessly in love with bass."

Have a listen to what Figgy likes to call "Krunky, Dubby Bass Bangers" and be sure to read more about him, download more free tracks and mixes or just give a shout at Figgymusic.com

The Renegade of Amstrad

Here's another treat from one of our followers/up-and-coming producers. The Renegade of Amstrad, from the UK, gives us his modern interpretation of the Kraftwerk classic that made them immortal - "Das Modell". He recreated the melody with a couple of arpeggiators, which is an immediate noticeable difference to the original.
But there's a few more treats hidden on his myspace. I especially enjoyed "Doubt" and "Fight Nite", the latter of which contains some samples that video gamers may be familiar with. Definitely give them a listen.

I'm just taking a guess here, but to me it seems like The Renegade of Amstrad is highly influenced by or grew up in the 1990's techno culture in England, Hacienda and so forth. I went to my first serious parties in Manchester during that time (spent all my summers there back in the day) and I gotta say it sparked it ALL for me.

We're always psyched to hear what all of you are up to creatively. We consider ourselves a dedicated link in the support chain for independent talent, so we're all about sharing the goods with the world and spreading the word of awesome. Keep 'em comin' guys!
