Sonovox in the 40's

I'm in a retro-ie mood today. Here's a clip from the 40's of a big band and a guy jamming on a "Sonovox", a vocoder-type instrument. The thing was invented by Gilbert Wright, an engineer and radio operator, who noticed that the sound of his electrical shaver traveled through his neck and emerged from his mouth with a buzzing sound. So when he formed his mouth and lips as if he was speaking, the sounds came out as words. It's awesome. I totally want one.
(Wait until the end for some amazing, Lucas-Arts-esque special effects.)
