DJ HERO
As a DJ, I see this and immediately think it's going to suck. But like Rockband and Guitar Hero, I will most likely learn to love it like crack cocaine. In the same vein as those and other "musicians" games, DJ Hero will certainly be a smash success and entice even more yoo-hoos to join the spinning circuit. And like its predecessors, the veteran DJ will inevitably suck at first. I've played drums for years and when I first sat down to the padset on Rockband, I failed miserably.
As far as I can tell, this is more focused on hip-hop oriented, scratch DJ techniques than beat-matched, long + seamless sets. Fortunately, they have incorporated songs and artists that span hip-hop, electro and rock. Daft Punk avatars are available for use along with the likenesses of DJ Shadow, Z-Trip, DJ AM (R.I.P.), Cut Chemist, Grandmaster Flash and others. The controller includes a rotatable turntable and three "stream" buttons, a crossfader, effects dial, and Euphoria button (excited to see what that does).
Even cooler, you can plug your Guitar Hero controller in and play in tandem with a virtual guitar -- each track on the game has its corresponding guitar "score" as well.
You can find a list of tracks used here.
It was released yesterday (10/27) in the States and will be available on Friday (10/30) in Europe for Wii, XBOX, Playstation 2 + 3. GO BUY IT!!!
